  • Terluran® Standard White ABS: The perfect solution not only for white goods
  • Terluran® Standard White ABS offers bright, intrinsic color and reliable product quality
  • NAS® for crystal-clear transparency and strength

The newly developed Terluran® Standard White ABS by INEOS Styrolution raises the bar for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene polymers with its bright intrinsic color. Furthermore, NAS® offers crystal-clear transparency, rupture safety and is food contact compliant. These and other hightlight will be presented at K 2016 by INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics. K 2016 is the major trade fair for plastics and rubber and will take place in Düsseldorf, 19 - 26 October 2016.

Terluran® Standard White ABS is emerging as a leading solution in the design of cutting-edge household applicances. It offers bright, intrinsic color, reliable product quality, cost-effectiveness and is excellently suited for self-coloring.

The customer can complete the fine-tuning of the color on-site by adding small amounts of a liquid or solid tuning batch directly into the injection-molding machine of the converter. This customized process means less expenses while reducing color fluctuations and enabling highly consistent and excellent color quality as well as freedom of design for the customer. Moreover, various additives, such as UV stabilizers can be added seamlessly to the product without additional compounding. These possibilities are especially advantageous for customers producing large quantities allowing customized, bright and stable coloring in an, at the same time, cost-efficient production process.

Artur Sokolowski, Director Sales Electronics and Household EMEA at INEOS Styrolution remarks, “Products with no plastics are a rarity in modern households. Wherever high transparency, high gloss, weather resistance, heat resistance or brilliant colors and color fastness are needed – INEOS Styrolution's styrenic polymers are up to the job.”

Also offering the highest aesthetic quality and robustness, INEOS Styrolution’s best-in-class transparent styrene acrylic copolymer NAS® is hydrophobic and provides excellent thermal stability, very good alcohol resistance, and virtually no molded-in stress. Additionally, the grade is characterized by low density, its easy processing, and its rupture safety. For these reasons NAS® products perform better than glass and are used in household items such as bottle coolers, coffee machine water tanks and water purifiers and salad bowls lately by the Italian producer Guzzini. Furthermore, NAS® grades offer food contact compliance and are known for their water clear color and desireable touch and feel. The impact modified grades also offer clarity with practical toughness for those applications requiring resistance to breakage.

Designers look for high-performance materials to be able to create household appliances that keep up with ever-changing technological progress and consumer demands. Trends in global production, trade and consumption are driving calls for less weight, greater stability and optimized energy and water efficiency. Plus, transformations in lifestyle and work have resulted in a growing number of smaller households, pushing behavioral changes in usage. At the same time, digitalization, connectivity and convergence are raising the stakes. In nearly every global market, the value chain is becoming more diverse and more complex.

The superior processing abilities of styrenics make changes in design or lower volume production simpler and more cost-effective – one big reason styrenic solutions are being used in ever more household products.
